Cancel Routinery at least 24 hours before your 7-day trial ends, or Apple and Google will automatically bill your account for an annual subscription ($24.99 to $39.49/year). While Routinery's voice-guided step timer is effective for morning routine momentum, paying an annual subscription for what amounts to a sequence of timers feels steep for many users. Deleting the icon from your home screen does not cancel your billing agreement. This guide provides the exact cancellation steps for iOS and Android, instructions for securing an App Store refund, and free alternative routine tools.

The trial renewal deadline

Routinery promotes a 7-day trial for Routinery Plus. As with all Apple and Google in-app purchases, recurring subscription engines process renewals 24 hours before the nominal expiration time.

If your trial officially ends on Friday at 8:00 AM, the transaction will often be triggered on Thursday morning. If you wait until Thursday night to cancel, you may find that the charge has already cleared.

App Store reviews frequently echo this issue: "Loved the timer concept for 3 days, forgot to cancel, and was billed $36 out of nowhere."

Cancelling Routinery on iPhone (Apple App Store)

Routinery subscriptions started on an iPhone or iPad are managed directly by Apple. Reaching out to Routinery's support email cannot cancel an iOS in-app purchase.

  1. Open your iPhone Settings.
  2. Tap your Name / Apple ID at the top of the screen.
  3. Tap Subscriptions.
  4. Select Routinery (or Routine Planner: Habit Tracker).
  5. Tap Cancel Subscription (or Cancel Free Trial).
  6. Tap Confirm when prompted.

After confirming, the status line will read "Expires [Date]" instead of "Renews [Date]". You can continue using your routines until the active period expires.

Cancelling Routinery on Android (Google Play Store)

If you activated Routinery on an Android device:

  1. Open the Google Play Store app.
  2. Tap your profile picture in the top-right corner.
  3. Tap Payments & subscriptions, then select Subscriptions.
  4. Find and tap Routinery.
  5. Tap Cancel subscription at the bottom of the screen.
  6. Select a reason for leaving and tap Confirm.

Google will send a confirmation email confirming that future renewals have ceased.

How to get a refund for an unexpected charge

Because all payments flow through Apple or Google, you must submit your refund request directly to the respective marketplace:

For iPhone / Apple ID:

  1. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com.
  2. Sign in with your Apple ID credentials.
  3. Select Request a refund from the first dropdown.
  4. Select I didn't intend to renew a subscription from the reason dropdown.
  5. Select the Routinery transaction and click Submit. Apple typically reviews and approves these requests within 24 to 48 hours if submitted shortly after the billing event.

For Android / Google Play:

  1. Visit play.google.com/store/account/orderhistory on a web browser.
  2. Locate the Routinery transaction.
  3. Click Report a problem and select the option describing accidental purchase.
  4. Submit the form. Decisions are often delivered within 15 minutes to 2 business days.

Free and fair alternatives to Routinery

If you want step-by-step routine guidance without recurring fees:

  1. Routinery Lifetime Purchase ($39.99 once): If you genuinely rely on Routinery's voice pacing, consider buying the lifetime tier rather than renewing year after year. See our Routinery price breakdown.
  2. Structured App ($29.99/yr or $99.99 lifetime): Visually blocks your morning routine directly into an interactive timeline. See our Structured vs Routinery comparison.
  3. Built-in Apple Alarms & Timers ($0): Setting labeled sequential alarms on your phone provides reliable pacing with zero subscription overhead.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Routinery cost after the free trial?
Routinery costs between $24.99 and $39.49/year for Routinery Plus, or $5.00 to $5.49/month. A lifetime option exists at $39.99.
Does deleting the Routinery app cancel my renewal?
