How we research, and who writes this

Every review on this site links here, because a review you can't audit is an advertisement.

Who writes it

TilTaken is written by one person with ADHD who reads the trials, the FDA labels, the App Store in-app purchase disclosures, and the one-star reviews, so you don't have to. Not a clinician. Nothing here is medical advice, and every medication page says so.

The reason the site exists: the ADHD app market is priced like therapy and reviewed like a phone case, mostly by people paid a commission on the subscription they recommend.

What we test, and what we don't

We do not run lab tests. We do not buy every device and photograph it on a desk. Claiming otherwise is the fastest way to become the thing this site is a reaction to, so every review states its method in one sentence near the top.

What we do instead:

  • Read prices off the App Store's in-app purchase disclosures and the vendor's own checkout or terms, never off another blog.
  • Read the actual study when a product cites one, and report the design. An open trial is not a randomized trial, and press releases confuse the two constantly.
  • Mine one- and two-star reviews for complaints that repeat, and report what recurs rather than what's loudest.
  • Install and use the free tiers we can, and say plainly when that's all we've done.

How things get picked

Products enter a roundup by being what people already search for, plus anything that solves the same problem better. Nothing is included or excluded because of a commercial relationship, because at time of writing there are none.

Rankings are opinions with reasons attached. When we say skip something, the reason is in the paragraph above it, and you're free to weigh it differently.

Prices and freshness

Prices are US figures verified on the date printed on each article, and they go stale fast. Subscription apps change pricing quietly and often. If a price on this site is wrong, that's a bug, and the date at the top of the article tells you how likely it is.

Pages that depend on volatile data get re-checked on a schedule rather than when we feel like it.

How this makes money

Right now it doesn't. There are no affiliate links, no sponsored posts, and no paid placements anywhere on the site as of July 2026.

The plan is an iOS app that rings through Silent mode until you confirm a dose, which is why an app promo sits at the bottom of most articles. If affiliate links ever appear, they will be labelled inline where they appear, not disclosed once in a footer nobody reads, and they will never change a ranking. That sentence is here so you can hold us to it.

Corrections

Getting a number wrong on a site about medication is worse than getting one wrong about headphones. Corrections are made in place, and when a correction changes a verdict the article says what changed.

Found something wrong? The fastest route is the waitlist form, which reaches a human.
